Assisted Outings
At Rita Henn and Partners we follow an outcomes based rehabilitation approach. Therefore community reintegration is an integral part of the rehabilitation process. One of the tools used to address community reintegration is community outings. . Be it a fun outing for pizza; to watch the quadriplegic rugby team practice or having a picnic in the hospital gardens or even at the Union Buildings, it is thoroughly enjoyed by both patients and therapists alike. Not only does it assist the person living with a disability to reintegrate into the community, but it can be a fun break from the daily demands of therapy. Patients learn skills that cannot be taught in a gym or hospital setting and learn to face the challenges of living a rewarding and meaningful life with their disability. It is a tough world out there, but together with guiding therapists, a patient can see that there is a place for people with disabilities in society and can start to re build their image and return to being a well respected member of the community. Whilst each outing is goal orientated and patient specific, there is one thing all outings have in common: lots of laughs and fun; key elements in a successful rehabilitation journey!
